There is a large overlap between medical problems and sexual difficulties. Consider these statistics:

  • 50% to 75% of diabetic men and 40 to 50% of diabetic women have sexual difficulties to some degree.
  • A similar percentage (about 67%) of cardiac patients report sexual difficulties.
  • 70% of breast cancer patients report sexual problems.
  • Five years after surgery only 29% of prostate cancer patients are able to achieve an erection firm enough for intercourse to occur.
  • When averaged across cancer sites, about 60% of cancer patients experience sexual problems as a result of treatment.

Sex therapy can help recover the sexual connection and rediscover a broad range of sexual intimacy even if the new normal isn’t what it was before. Dr. Rosenquist has completed advanced training in the psychosocial treatment of cancer and is a member of the Cancer2Health network developed by Dr. Barbara Anderson at Ohio State University. To learn more about the psychosocial treatment of cancer patients, Dr. Sara Rosenquist maintains close ties to the medical community through memberships in medical societies such as the Sexual Medicine Society of North American (SMSNA, ISSM, and ISSWSH) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). Dr. Sara has presented papers and workshops at medical societies locally, nationally, and internationally.

What Our Patients
are Saying

I enjoyed my first session with Dr Sara. I liked how she listened and after she listened she was able to speak to my situation accurately and it didn’t take her asking me tons of questions. Dr Sara got right to the point and her feedback for my first session was enlightening and invaluable. Something I can build upon until my next booster session.
